Several Rotary members of District 9670 were recognised at the recent District Conference, which was held in Forster, by being awarded a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF).
District Governor Gerard McMillan wanted to acknowledge the hard work of certain individuals, who do this privately and without seeking recognition. All of the recipients received the prestigious awards from the Rotary International President's Representative Kamal Sanghvi from India.
The PHF is generally awarded to those who display exceptional "Service Above Self" and named after the founder of Rotary, Paul Harris of Chicago.
Rotarians to receive their first ever PHF awards were:
Madeleine Atkins - for her advertising and assisting in co-ordinating the "Light Up Newcastle" event
Nicole Shanks - District website
Colin Shanks - District website
Others members who had another PHF added to their collection included:
Yvonne Palmer - for her support of District Governor Gerard
Immediate Past District Governor Brian Atkins - Public Relations and assisting in co-ordinating the "Light Up Newcastle" event
Past District Governor Alex McHarg - for his support, mentoring and helping to organise the Conference
Wilma Simmons - for organising all of the training sessions
Also recognised during the weekend was District Governor Hans von DeWall from District 1900, Germany, for travelling 30 hours to support Gerard at his conference and see the Group Study Exchange (GSE) team in action.
Congratulations everyone!
