The 17th Loop the Lake cycle event around Lake Macquarie, run by the Rotary Club of Warners Bay was a great success again this year. On a perfect autumn day, around 1,900 cyclists from far and wide enjoyed the ride. The Mayor of Lake Macquarie, Councillor Jodie Harrison launched the ride on Sunday 9 March. “Loop the Lake is a fun day out that provides a wide-range of economical and health benefits for the local community,” Cr Harrison said. Rotary Club of Warners Bay President, Toni Gemmell, said “the club is pleased to sponsor this annual event, which is strongly supported by other rotary
clubs, community services and local businesses. “We proudly donate proceeds to the John Hunter Children’s Hospital, the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children, Mercy Ships and other worthy charities,” “Off course, without our loyal cyclists, there would be no event, and we are grateful to them for their participation. The feedback from them this year has been excellent,” Ms Gemmell said.
