Helen was born in Sydney but has lived her life in country New South Wales; Brewarrina, Cooma and now Salamander Bay. She went to boarding school in Orange for all her school days and then to Sydney University to study Physiotherapy.

As a Physiotherapist, Helen has worked in both Private and Public facilities in Australia and London, having her own business for much of her working life. She retired 12 months ago and is now enjoying having time with her family.

Helen is married to Mike and they have one son, Leigh who is married with two delightful daughters! Helen and Mike are both involved in local community activities and enjoy the active lifestyle a small community offers.

Helen was invited to join the Rotary Club of Nelson Bay in October 1998 and since then has enjoyed the opportunity of service within the community and the involvement with the club.

Helen has held Youth, Community, Vocational and Secretarial portfolios prior to being President, a position she has held twice; 2003-04 and 2008-09. In 2003-04 she was instrumental in chartering the Rotary Club of Salamander Bay and initiating a literacy program in the local primary school which is still current and has expanded to three schools.  In 2005 she was presented with a Paul Harris Fellow.

Between 2011 and 2013 Helen held the position of Assistant Governor as well as being a member of the Rotary Foundation Committee and chair of Group Study Exchange; these positions were very fulfilling. She was a member of the Learning and Development Committee in 2013-14 at which time she chaired the Rotary Leadership Institute as it was introduced to District 9670.

Helen is looking forward to her role as District Governor for District 9670 and with it the opportunity for travel and meeting with fellow Rotarians and their families.
