ROTARY INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION 2014

The 2013 Rotary International Convention has not long finished, but it is already time to think about next years Convention. It is going to be extra special as the Convention will be held in SYDNEY on June 1-4!!!

During the Convention, Rotarians will have the opportunity to experience Australia in its fullest, by not only sightseeing the amazing wonders in Sydney, but will have a great time sitting through a concert at Sydney Opera House, or a game of AFL. Visitors will also be given a true Australian bbq (you can't come to Australia and not have a bbq), and just before the event starts, Rotarians will be able to dine in the restaurants surrounding Darling Harbour, then see a great firework display and the VIVID light show.

Courtesy of the NSW Government, all Rotarians will get free public transport (up to 250km radius of Sydney, so between Newcastle, Nowra, Bathurst and Goulburn), which gives visitors the chance to travel on a ferry to Manly to see the Taronga Zoo, or see the famous Bondi and Nobby beaches.

The Host Organising Committee are still seeking Rotarians, Rotaractors and their partners to volunteer prior and during the event. They are looking for people who can assist with: Finance and accounting; Promotion and public relations; Arranging and running special events; Fund raising; Recruiting and training Rotarian volunteers; Organising a business expo; Organising entertainment; Catering (arranging and supervising); Relationships with RI, TRF and Governments; Security; Organising medical service; Assistance with obtaining visas and general assistance; and can speak another language.

If you are interested in assisting and would like more information, please contact the Volunteer and Services Chair PDG Monica Saville by 30th September 2013 (although late notification will also be accepted).

It will be a great opportunity and experience for all involved as individuals, Rotarians and for Rotary in Australia.
