Neville Chant turns 100 on 14th December 2018!Rotarian and member of The Rotary Club Of Waratah turned 100 on 14th December 2018. Picture shows Neville in receipt of a message and card from the Queen. His birthday was celebrated on Monday 10th December, as he has a full list for the next week. District Governor Brian Coffey presented Neville with his third Paul Harris sapphire pin at the meeting. Neville joined Rotary on April 2nd 1973 and has been an active member since then. He still has 100% attendance except for a short stint in hospital a few years ago now. A celebration to remember and to "Be The Inspiration" |

Catalina Festival - Rathmines 29th OctoberA very warm day at Rathmines where Rotary and ShelterBox were well represented. The flying displays were top class. Mrs Ryan of the Rotary Club of Nelson Bay will hold the position for the next 12 months. Spanning from Newcastle in the east to Bourke in the west, District 9670 is home to over 1,100 Rotarians committed to serving and building their local communities. |

NONDUGL, PNG ROTARIANS VISIT NEWCASTLEOn their first trip outside of Papua New Guinea (PNG) to participate in the District 9670 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) this year were Rebecca Kupil and Andrias Okum from Nundugl, PNG. A Rotary Foundation grant was received to help with airfares and they were sponsored to RYLA by the Wallsend Maryland Club.

Our outbound GSE (Group Study Exchange) team have spoken and presented their vocational stories at the District 7570 Conference in USA.
Rotary District 9670 is priviledged enough to be hosting the RAWCS Eastern Region meeting on 3 and 4 May 2014 in Argenton.
Recently, Margaret Raynor, partner of 2012-13 District Governor (DG), Peter, handed over a cheque for $23,500 to the Macular Disease Foundation Australia's CEO Julie Heraghty.

There has been a change to the Marching Band and Entertainment Spectacular on Friday 28 March after Conference Chair PDG Ted Atchison met with Hunter Stadium Management. The inaugural Spectacular at the Hunter Stadium will be postponed for the general public.
The event will still continue for the Rotarians attending the opening night with Three marching bands performing on the arena, special performances by Catherine Britt, Hunter Singers, Star Struck Singers and Live Music in the Broadmeadow Room.
The Millennium March Band will no longer be performing.
So still a great night for Rotarians, but unfortunately not available to the public at this stage.

With the 2014 District Conference fast approaching so to is the date for The Marching Band & Entertainment Spectacular that's on at the Hunter Stadium in Newcastle on March 28th starting at 7.30pm.
Please make sure that you've invited everyone you know to attend as it should be a spectacular night!
At only $15 for Adults, $10 for Children or $40 for a Family ticket it's an opportunity to great to be missed.

The recognition of Anzac Day by young people in our community is vitally important. The year 2015 is the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign and it is the objective of all the Melbourne and Victorian Rotary districts to have an annual students' Anzac Day service in every municipality in Victoria by Anzac Day 25th April 2015. In order to achieve this objective, it is important for some or all of the Rotary clubs within each municipality to get together to approach their local schools to explain the concept and invite their participation.
